East & Southeast Asia

ANDE’s East and South East Chapter officially launched in June 2014, and now has a full-time Regional Chapter Manager dedicated to strengthening and expanding the network in ESEA. The chapter aims to work to together to better understand and leverage existing resources in the region, facilitate interaction among local actors, and identify common challenges and collaborative projects to address them. The ANDE Chapter in East & Southeast Asia operates in China, Hong Kong, Japan, North Korea, South Korea, Macao, Mongolia, Taiwan, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor-Leste, and Vietnam.

Regional Chapter Manager: Omkaew “Fai” Wechayachai 

Omkaew “Fai” Wechayachai joined ANDE in 2017 as the East and Southeast Asia Chapter Manager. Fai holds a Masters in Comparative International Development Education from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE) of the University of Toronto. Fai brings both private and public sector in education industry expertise. She most recently has served as the Deputy Managing Director of a Thai educational institution that established the Canadian International School of Thailand, an institution she helped build from the ground up. Her role included everything from identifying and managing relationships with educational partners and stakeholders overseas to assisting with the creation of the school curriculum. Prior to her role with the Canadian International School, Fai was part of the management team of KidZania Bangkok where she led the creation of a 15-person sales team while identifying and cultivating leading industry brands and corporates in the market.

Steering Committee Chair: Abbie Jung

Abbie is the co-founder of Synergy Social Ventures which educates funders about the use of philanthropy, philanthropic investment and social entrepreneurship as innovative tools to achieve sustainable development goals. She has a background in venture capital, public health and international development working with organizations such as Médecins Sans Frontières and the World Health Organization. As Regional Director of Nexus Asia, she creates collaborative communities of socially conscious and active young leaders and convenes a range of events around philanthropy, impact investing and social entrepreneurship in the region. She has a bachelor’s degree in Neurobiology from University of California at Berkeley and a master’s degree in Population and Family Health from Columbia University.
