Funding

In order to drive greater resources to organizations supporting SGBs in the developing world, and to ensure ANDE member expertise is leveraged efficiently, ANDE provides several funding opportunities to its members and non-members. The funding opportunities below are meant to spur more creative and collaborative investments in SGBs and uncover how SGBs contribute to poverty alleviation and economic growth.

Funding initiatives fall into three primary buckets:

Catalyst Fund

The ANDE Catalyst Fund fuels initiatives aimed at improving collaboration between and the capacity of organizations within the small and growing business (SGB) sector. Since its inception, ANDE has disbursed $2.3 million to 43 member organizations. For more information about the fund, future funding opportunities, and past projects, please click here.

Argidius-ANDE Finance Challenge

The Argidius Foundation and ANDE launched the Argidius-ANDE Finance Challenge in 2012, as the first of its kind competition designed to support scalable models to provide finance for small and growing businesses that require $20,000 - $250,000 in early stage capital. The goal of the challenge was to accelerate the development of solutions in a number of emerging markets, ideally establishing models that could be replicated. The Challenge was open to all organizations or teams of organizations working to help SGBs secure sufficient finance (debt or equity) to grow. Read more about the challenge here.

Argidius-ANDE Talent Challenge

The Argidius Foundation and ANDE launched the Argidius-ANDE Talent Challenge in 2015, as the first of its kind competition designed to identify highly promising solutions to human capital constraints, provide funding to experiment with these models, and ultimately scale the best ideas. The challenge was open to all organizations (or teams of organizations) working to help small and growing businesses in specific emerging market geographies to recruit, develop and/or retain talent at  the middle and upper level management levels.
