Join ANDE, Emory University’s Social Enterprise @ Goizueta (SE@G), and TechnoServe for a discussion of two new reports that explore the impacts of business acceleration on early stage ventures.
The first, Accelerating Startups in Emerging Markets: Insights from 43 Programs is the second annual report to come from the Global Accelerator Learning Initiative (GALI), a multi-year global research initiative designed to explore key questions about enterprise acceleration. This report compares the performance of acceleration in emerging markets with high-income countries, based on data from over 2,000 early stage ventures and 43 acceleration programs. It explores core beliefs about what drives those performance patterns, and tests them with quantitative and qualitative data.
From this broad perspective on acceleration, we will zoom in to one organization’s programs in one region. The second report, Accelerating Impact from Entrepreneurs: Lessons learned from TechnoServe´s work with SGBs in Central America compares more than 400 companies that participated in ten different business acceleration cohorts from El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua. This diverse sample of entrepreneurs shows that carefully designed accelerator programs can, on average, facilitate revenue growth. However, it also shows important differences in revenue-growth performance across the companies in this TechnoServe sample.
