The Aspen Network of Development Entrepreneurs (ANDE) is a program within the Aspen Institute. ANDE is a global membership network of organizations that propel entrepreneurship in emerging markets. ANDE members provide critical financial, educational, and business support services to small and growing businesses (SGBs) based on the conviction that SGBs will create jobs, stimulate long-term economic growth, and produce environmental and social benefits. Ultimately, we believe that SGBs can help lift countries out of poverty. Launched with 34 members in 2009, ANDE now comprises over 250 members who collectively operate in more than 150 countries.

ANDE is looking for an Operations Coordinator, based in our Nairobi, Kenya office.

Role Focus

The Operations Coordinator will be a vital member of the East Africa team.  This role will work with the Senior Regional Chapter Manager to provided administrative support to the East Africa Chapter team. The Operations Coordinator’s day to day work will involve providing administrative, logistics and accounting support for the East Africa Chapter.

This role will expose you to the SGB support sector in emerging markets and provide a variety of skill building opportunities including accounting, project management and communication. This role is based in Nairobi, Kenya, on an initial 2-year contract and will report to the Senior Regional Chapter Manager-East Africa.

You are bought into our ultimate goal of building a robust entrepreneurial ecosystem in East Africa to create long term sustainable economic growth.  

Specifically, the Coordinator will:

  • Provide day to day administrative support for the East Africa Chapter.
  • Provide event support by managing event logistics including sourcing and managing suppliers.
  • Process payments, advances and reimbursements.
  • Support the East Africa Chapter’s external communication including newsletters and other correspondence.
  • Support chapter reporting including quarterly financial and activity reports.
  • Facilitate member engagement by supporting the chapter staff in responding to member requests and regularly reviewing member engagement reports.

Each day will be different, but this role will provide exposure to a wide variety of skills, and skill building opportunities.
