ANDE Catalyst Fund for Impact Measurement In Africa Overview

The goal of the ANDE Catalyst Fund is to increase the productivity and effectiveness of ANDE members while creating tools and insights that can help the SGB sector as a whole.

With this challenge fund round, ANDE is keen to support organizations to test measurement tools, frameworks, and analytical approaches, and who are willing to learn from and inform ANDE members based on their experience in order to move impact measurement and management forward for the field as a whole.

This funding round totals $150,000, and is generously funded by Department for International Development’s (DFID) Impact Programme.

This round of the Catalyst Fund has two windows. The first window opened in July 2017, and will fund up to two collaborative projects from ANDE’s Metrics Learning Labs in East Africa and South Africa through a process managed by each Learning Lab.

The second window opened in November 2017, and is available to any ANDE member to apply through the open Request for Proposals process. ANDE seeks to fund approximately 3 proposals through this RFP. ANDE members may apply to this Catalyst Fund round for projects of up to 12 months with a maximum request of US$30,000.  Read the Request for Proposals>>

Catalyzing impact measurement in africa - RFP

The second window of the Catalyst Fund for Impact Measurement - Africa will support practitioners developing analytical approaches, testing technologies or methodologies, and developing case studies or resource guides. Specifically, proposals can focus in these areas:

  • Focus on tools, methods, analytical approaches, etc. that will be useful for the broader field

  • Jump-start impact measurement within an organization, and provide some catalytic funding to launch or add rigor to a measurement approach that will continue post-project

  • Incorporate collaboration, sharing lessons with the field, and disseminating results for field building

  • May be consultant or researcher led, but must include significant active collaboration with or participation from practitioners, including impact investors, capacity development providers, or small and growing businesses

  • We also encourage projects that engage the Metrics Learning Labs or build from conversations started there.

Partnership Opportunities

Proposals must be led and submitted by ANDE members, however non-members may participate. In fact, ANDE actively encourages collaborative proposals among ANDE members, evaluators, and technology experts.

  • If you have developed an approach or tool that you would like tested, please fill out this form
  • If you are looking for a partner with specific expertise, take a look at this list of tools and experts.

Some of the organizations interested in partnerships include: the Impact Management Project, Genesis Analytics, B Lab East Africa, and the PPI.  Read the full list to learn more.
